{Just Be Kind}

“I don’t understand why it is easier for people to point out “what they think is wrong with others…

The other day, I saw a video from a fellow blogger about her being called “an old hag” due to her premature gray hair. Well, it got me. Not really for her gray hair (I have some too) or for being called such a name….but on how unkind people can be.

For several months now, I have been working early to make up time for the days that I have to leave work early. Then, I kinda like the “alone” time. It means I don’t have to sit in the break room in silence while the rest of my co-workers do their own thing. That also means, I am far from work room drama. Those two days of early working hours turned into the whole week. I purposely work early even if I don’t get paid for it. I welcomed the “peaceful” atmosphere. Getting the job early is just a bonus. Maybe this is introversion….maybe it’s wrapping myself in a bubble.

…instead of talking about what’s good and great about them.”

Then I find myself drifting and drifting farther away. No communications unless it’s necessary. I go to work, do my job and go home. A set up that most of you will say is not healthy but I find satisfying.

You know why I do this?

This is the only way I know so I can shield myself from hatred and unkind people. This is how I protect myself from losing faith in humanity.

“Why it is so hard for people to make others feel good about themselves….

I don’t know what made that someone called out the lady blogger for her gray hair and give her names. I don’t know if she’s having a bad day. Perhaps, people call her names too. Maybe, she is also surrounded by unkind people. Maybe, in trying to be tough – the only thing she know how to do…is to be one.

…and so easy to tear them apart.”

I believe we don’t really have to do amazing and great things for the whole world, but we can start within ourselves, with our family, our friends, everyone we connect to on social media and the people that we are blessed to interact with on a day to day basis.

If we can’t love, we can always be kind.
